Sitkoff/O'Neil Accountancy Corporation's expertise ranges from basic tax management and accounting services to more in-depth services such as  financial statements and financial planning.

Our Team

MATT O'NEIL, CPA

SHAREHOLDER

Matt O'Neil is a shareholder in Sitkoff\O'Neil Accountancy Corporation where he practices in the areas of income taxation, estate taxation, tax planning, financial statement preparation, financial planning, accounting and testimony as an expert witness. Matt has acquired extensive practical financial experience with numerous types of small businesses from 1976 to present.

Matt was born and raised in Sacramento, California. After graduating from Jesuit High School in 1972, he attended the University of California at Berkeley and graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an accounting emphasis.

Matt received his Masters in Business Administration in Federal Income Taxation from Golden Gate University in 1980. He obtained a CPA certificate in 1980, a Certified Financial Planner certificate in 1986, and an Estate Planning Certificate from the California CPA Education Foundation in 1998. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Matt worked in the audit and tax department of Coopers & Lybrand from 1976 to 1979. He became self-employed as a CPA in 1986 and has been a shareholder in Sitkoff/O?Neil Accountancy Corporation since 1987.

Matt married Gabriela in 1985, and they have four children, Stephanie, Lauren, Alexandra and Peter. Matt enjoys backpacking, swimming and other outdoor activities.

GABRIELLE SABATELLA, CPA

SHAREHOLDER

Gabrielle (Gab) joined Sitkoff/O'Neil as a C.P.A. in January of 2008. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder earning a bachelors degree in accounting with an emphasis in taxation as well as a masters degree in taxation.

Later, Gab moved back to the Los Angeles area and worked for Arthur Anderson for two and a half years until their dissolution. She spent the next six years at Deloitte & Touche where she eventually became a senior manager in the tax department.

Gab and her family moved to Truckee in September 2007 to take advantage of the wonderful outdoor life that the Tahoe area has to offer.

NANCY HERRERA, CPA

SHAREHOLDER

Nancy joined the Sitkoff/O'Neil team in October of 2005 as a staff accountant. She works with clients preparing individual and corporate tax returns, performing monthly and quarterly accounting, and preparing financial statements. As a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Nancy also assists clients in setting up new QuickBooks files or cleaning up their existing files.

Nancy has Bachelor's degree in accounting and over twenty years of experience working with a variety of small and mid-sized businesses. In addition to studying accounting, Nancy also earned a Masters degree in ESL Education and taught English as a Second Language for several years.

Nancy lives in Truckee with her husband and two children. She enjoys downhill and cross-country skiing, hiking and biking.

DEBBIE HAKANSSON

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, TAX PREPARER

Debbie joined Sitkoff/O'Neil in 1987, after graduating from UCSB with a BA in economics. Her experience includes individual, small business accounting and income tax preparation.

Debbie has lived in the Tahoe/Truckee area for 25 years. She enjoys downhill and cross-country skiing, mountain and road biking. Debbie is married and has a teenage daughter.

STARR LITT-BLACKMAN, E.A.

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, TAX PREPARER

Starr joined Sitkoff/O'Neil in October of 1992 and is currently licensed as an Enrolled Agent. Starr specializes in income tax preparation, tax planning, monthly and quarterly accounting, and meeting with clients on a regular basis. Her position at Sitkoff/O'Neil allows her flexibility to have a rewarding career as well as spend time with her family.

Starr is happily married to a music promoter and they are the proud parents of two beautiful children, Jahmeyel and Cydonah.

LEAH FREITAS

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, TAX PREPARER

Leah joined Sitkoff/O'Neil in 2003 as a staff accountant. Leah works on individual, partnership, fiduciary, and corporate income tax returns. Her expertise in tax preparation, accounting, and the preparation of financial statements enables Leah to work with a wide variety of clients.

Leah enjoys assisting her clients so that they feel at ease in regards to tax and accounting matters. She is able to utilize her customer service skills to give clients a sense of peace when it comes to their financial matters.

Leah lives in Truckee with her husband and daughter. She loves the outdoors, hiking, baking, hanging with her family, and helping other people in any way she can.

LISA TRAINOR, CPA

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, TAX PREPARER

Lisa graduated from the University of California, Sacramento in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accountancy. She began her professional career with the Sacramento office of Ernst & Young LLP. Lisa received a Master of Business Administration degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ in 2002 and worked in public accounting in the North Tahoe area for ten years before joining Sitkoff/O’Neil in 2014. She is currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in California and Nevada.

Lisa and her husband Ryan live in Truckee and they enjoy all of the recreation opportunities that the Tahoe/Truckee area has to offer. In September 2005, she completed hiking the Tahoe Rim Trail and became a member of the Rim Trail's 165-mile club.

KIM CROSS

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, TAX PREPARER

Kim graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. She began her accounting career with Eide Bailly, LLC in Reno, Nevada as an audit associate. Kim joined Sitkoff/O’Neil in July 2017 as a staff accountant, and is currently working toward obtaining her California CPA license.

Kim is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota where she was born and raised. She moved to the Lake Tahoe/Truckee area in 1994 to live in the mountains and enjoy the outdoors. During her free-time, Kim enjoys dirt-biking, snowboarding, and hiking with her dog.

LAEL PORTER

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, TAX PREPARER

Lael joined Sitkoff/O’Neil in June 2017. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Saint Lawrence University. After 11 years of bookkeeping for local non-profit organizations and small businesses, Lael decided she wanted to further her career. She went back to school for accounting with the goal of obtaining her CPA license. With the CPA exam passed and the required coursework completed, she is close to her goal of becoming a licensed CPA.

Lael lives in Truckee with her husband and two children. She grew up in Seattle, WA and has been living in the Tahoe/Truckee area for 16 years. Lael enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking, camping and traveling.

ERIN HANLEY

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, TAX PREPARER

Erin joined the Sitkoff/O’Neil team as a staff accountant in July of 2016. She has worked in many facets of the accounting field for over 15 years, and is excited to assist clients with their tax and financial needs. She grew up spending her weekends in Lake Tahoe enjoying skiing, hiking and swimming. After attending college at the University of Utah, she wanted to continue her mountain lifestyle and chose the Truckee/Tahoe area. Erin lives in Truckee with her husband and daughter.

KRISTINA MIRANDA

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, TAX PREPARER

Kristina moved to Reno in 2013 after working as a Tax Assistant for Maureen Weinstein, CPA for 7 years in Windsor, CA. After taking time off to raise her daughter, Kristina started as a temporary Assistant for Sitkoff/O'Neil's Reno office in January 2015 and soon after tax season she rejoined Sitkoff/O'Neil as the Administrative Assistant.

When not working Kristina enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and hiking

AMY GEIGLE

OFFICE MANAGER

Amy started her career at Price Waterhouse in Washington D.C. many years ago. After leaving there she spent some time teaching, and eventually moved to Truckee. She worked as a human resources professional in the resort industry for eight years before returning to the accounting world with Sitkoff O’Neil Accountancy in 2011.

She loves the great outdoors, and she spends her time off enjoying the abundant recreational opportunities of the area with her husband and four children.

JESSICA WARREN

STAFF ACCOUNTANT, TAX PREPARER

Jessica is originally from Reno, NV. She spent much of her youth in Seattle, but moved back to Reno several years ago to work with an established CPA firm doing full charge bookkeeping. She quickly transitioned into tax return preparation and firm management. Gaining a wealth of information, she became ultimately responsible for all three office locations and 700 clients.

Jessica joined Sitkoff O’Neil in the fall of 2017. She is a Bookkeeper, a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, and a Payroll Specialist. When she is not working, Jessica loves to spend time with her two younger sisters. She takes advantage of the beautiful, local lakes and parks to participate in her favorite pass times; swimming and going on hikes with her boyfriend and two dogs.
